Experience history in a vivid, interactive and playful way: The GDR Museum offers you a hands-on experience of the everyday life of a state long gone, the life in socialism. Visitors are welcome to broaden their knowledge in different thematic areas, to reconsider existing cliches and to have a hands-on experience of history. Exhibits are there to be handled - few are kept in glass cabinets. The Trabi is still originally GDR-like. Typical engine noises of the Trabi and a simulated ride through the concrete-slab housing estate give an impression of what it was like to go for a ride. There is much more to discover in the GDR Museum: watch TV in the authentic GDR living room, rummage through the drawers of the Karat wall unit. There are documentaries for the visitors to watch in original GDR movie chairs and it is possible to replay the football game "GDR vs. FRG" by oneself or to dance the Lipsi. All this is seen with the most important information about every topic.

THE STORY OF BERLIN is a very unusual exhibition about history: you experience the city's moving history with all your senses. Visitors enter different historical worlds and go though that kind of atmosphere – from the city's foundation to the Fall of the Berlin Wall. An additional element of the exhibition is the fully functional nuclear bomb shelter situated right underneath the building. Every full hour from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. guided tours in english language through the bunker are offered which last about 30 - 45 minutes. Thousands of beds in a gloomy light give you an authentic atmosphere of a menacing atomic strike, which is probably the most haunting part of the exhibition. Built in the 1970's, in a case of emergency this shelter could accommodate 3,600 people and is still fully functional.

After a short briefing concerning the 'secrets' of the 'four-gear manual change' you can start: pull the choke, start the car, shift to the low gear, let off the break, push the gas pedal - off you go. As soon as you are passing the first bend, everybody is in Trabi-fever - at latest. With 26 horsepower and at 30 km/h you chug along the streets in your trabi convoy. Our guide sits in the lead car and tells you interesting and curious things about yesterday and today throughout the whole trip. You will hear to the guide via radio in every Trabi without headphones just over the loudspeakers. On your trip you will get to know the city from a totally different point of view. Potsdam is Berlin's most popular day-trip destination and for good reason. It is a veritable playground for biking with many Prussian and Cold War sights tucked deep in parks and along quiet alleyways. Potsdam is a UNESCO World Heritage sight and no matter where you turn it seems there is another palace, city gate, or important part of Cold War history. It is flat, green, bike-friendly and much more than just the 'Versailles of Berlin'. After we meet at the meeting point at the TV Tower we take our bikes with us on the train to Potsdam. Once we arrive in Potsdam we begin by exploring the royal palaces around Sansoucci Park. We take plenty of time to see the palaces before going on to the historic city center. From there we go to a delightful beer garden literally in the middle of the former no-man's-land of the Cold War before exploring the impressive Cecilienhof Palace. We continue going over the Glienicke Bridge Checkpoint where many spies traded hands during the Cold War. From there it is another amazing ride along the water seeing the former residences of Churchill, Stalin, and Truman where they stayed during the Potsdam Conference at the end of World War II. We end by taking the train back to Berlin.
